AI Meets Altitude: Inside Our Drone Inspection Workshop at Geethanjali College

Last week, something exciting took off—quite literally—at Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad. We at DKM Consult Pvt. Ltd. had the pleasure of hosting a three-day, hands-on workshop on AI-based drone inspection technology, and let’s just say, it was nothing short of high-flying innovation.

🧠 Learning by Doing: Not Your Average Tech Talk

This wasn’t your typical sit-down-and-listen seminar. Across six action-packed hours each day, students rolled up their sleeves and got straight into building, flying, analyzing, and innovating. From understanding how drones are reshaping infrastructure inspection, to using AI for real-time defect detection, participants got to experience the future of tech—today.

🔍 What Went Down

 

Day 1: Tech Meets Theory

We kicked things off with the basics—drone technology, AI fundamentals, and a live demo of what drones can actually see when scanning buildings. We also introduced prompt engineering, showing how crafting the right instructions for AI tools can make or break your output. Think of it as teaching students to speak AI’s language.

Day 2: Taking Flight

Time to hit the field! After learning about drone safety, regulations (hello, DGCA!), and pre-flight checks, participants got their hands on the controls. They flew structured missions in batches, learning how to collect clean, high-quality data. And yes, there were some wide-eyed moments seeing those drones in action for the first time!

Day 3: From Data to Decisions

This is where things got real. Students uploaded the data they collected into Inspectica, our in-house AI inspection platform. They annotated defects, localized images, and generated detailed reports—just like real-world engineers. The process from drone flight to AI analysis to report creation showed them how the pieces of the tech puzzle come together in professional practice.

Workshops like this aren’t just about cool tech (although that helps). They’re about future-proofing careers. Drones and AI are rapidly transforming industries—from construction to energy to urban planning—and we want students to be ready to lead that change, not just watch it happen.
